This report presents an evidence review on the drivers, barriers, and enablers of business investment, and the benefits to businesses and the economy. The report finds that business investment results in economic benefits at firm and aggregate levels, namely productivity and economic growth (GDP), as well as increased employment, profitability, sales, market value, energy and operational efficiency, innovation and export value. -
Grangemouth Hydrogen Hub (2024)
Reviews and re-assesses the status of hydrogen activities in the Grangemouth industrial cluster. The study recommends enabling a hydrogen market by committing to 1-2 key priority end uses in the short term. Based on current activity, these priorities could be industrial transport and industrial heat. -

This review considers Scotland’s performance in two main respects: the creation of high growth spin outs from Scottish universities; and Scottish spin outs raising equity investment.
